ACES taps Chris Lane for CEO

February 19, 2012, 10:01 pm

ASPEN, Colo.—The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies has named Chris Lane as Chief Executive Officer. Lane will take over from Tom Cardamone who has led ACES since 1975.

"ACES strong team of dedicated and capable naturalists, educators, and land stewards is beyond enthusiastic about having Chris Lane join us," said Cardamone.

Lane is currently Vice President of Environmental Affairs for Xanterra Parks & Resorts, the country's largest national park and resort management company, where he has been responsible for all aspects of company environmental affairs.

Lane has 19 years of experience across varying sectors of the environmental field including working as Director of Environmental Affairs at Aspen Skico.

"I am thrilled to join the dedicated team of staff and board at ACES," said Lane. "I look forward to bringing my experience from the private sector back home to such a renowned organization as ACES, and to work with the Roaring Fork Valley community, where my heart has been since 1991."

Lane lives with his wife and two young children in Basalt. He is an avid birder, ski mountaineer, and is currently training for the Power of Four race.

John Bennett will continue in his transitional leadership role through June 30, focused on incorporating For the Forest programming into ACES. "Chris Lane will make a great leader for ACES," noted Bennett. "He's the perfect person to lead the organization to the next level."
