ASPEN—As part this year’s Winterskol celebration, AVSC is sponsoring a USASA Rail Jam competition in downtown Aspen on Friday, Jan. 11. This qualifying event for the X Games street course event takes place from 2-4 p.m. in Wagner Park.

Free for spectators, the Rail Jam costs $30 for competitors who should register through www.usasa.org or www.teamavsc.org. Practice is scheduled from 1-2 p.m. in the park adjacent to the Mill St. pedestrian mall.

The Rail Jam brings the mountain event to a street-level venue, offering viewing opportunities for spectators who may not normally have the chance to check out, first hand, these exciting tricks.

“This weekend’s Rail Jam is a great opportunity for our freeski and snowboard athletes to bring their terrain park tricks into town and showcase them to the general public,” said Tyler Lindsay, Snowboard Program Director for the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club. “It also serves as a qualifier for the USASA national level Rail Jam that will be taking place later this month at X Games.”

Locals and visitors to Aspen/Snowmass are encouraged to drop by the park and check out the next generation of freeskiers and snowboarders.
